Frosh / Transfer 101 TAs (2021)
Hi! I'm Jonathan (he/him pronouns) and I'm from Miami, FL. I'm studying International Relations (I think—it's ok to be indecisive!) and I'm interested in business, law, and the arts. Talk to me about navigating Stanford as a first-gen student and any questions about how to get involved and use Stanford resources for your projects and interests. Excited to meet y'all!
Frosh 101 was one of my favorite parts of my first fall quarter. I was really nervous about community-building and finding friends when I came to Stanford, and this program helped me through a lot of those stressful times. I grew close to many of the students in my section, and they are some of my closest friends to this day. As a sophomore and junior co-lead, I have seen the positive impact this program has on frosh communities many times. One takeaway is that there is no one type of community – each group has its own set of challenges and opportunities for growth, and it is up to you as a leader to learn how to best facilitate community building within those communities. As a TA, I am excited to support the next class of co-leads as they grow their leading skills and help the next class of frosh and transfers flourish.
My name is Hodan and I am a second year transfer student studying Biology on the Neurobio track and minoring in AAAS. I am the co president of the Black Gender Marginalized Collective, an RA at Ujamaa House and co FO of the Stanford Black Pre Medical Association. I also am an undergraduate research assistant at the Goodman lab. I love to cook, watch tv (reality tv, anime, sitcoms, anything), take walks/hikes, take pictures, play pick up games of anything (cards, sports, etc) and listen to music. (Transfer 101 TA)
Hi everyone! I'm Nicole, a sophomore studying Human Biology on a Brain & Behavior track. Academically, I'm passionate about the intersections between health and cognition, and the ways in which our behavior shapes our physical health. Co-leading has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my Stanford career thus far, and I am thrilled to join the TA cohort to help guide this next round of co-leads as they enter into this exciting experience of leadership and growth. Out of class, you can find me ~virtually~ singing with Stanford MixedCo and learning about the newest ocean research!
Aloha! My name is Matt Mettias; I'm currently a sophomore studying Psychology @ Stanford from Aiea, Hawai'i (O'ahu). I enjoy learning literally anything & everything my mind can effectively grasp, playing my ukulele and guitar, and involving myself in outdoor activities such as beach-going, hiking, playing pickup basketball. I am beyond stoked to be one of your TAs this quarter & I look forward to supporting you along your Stanford journey.
Hi everyone! My name is Claudia Nmai (she/her), and I'm a sophomore from outside Cleveland, Ohio, majoring in Sociology. On campus, I'm involved with the Women's Community Center, ASSU Racial Justice Cabinet, Ghanaian Student Association, and Black Student Union. Outside of school, I love to relax by playing tennis, reading, and listening to music! I'm so excited to be a Frosh 101 TA and support the next cohort of co-leads as they help the frosh transition to and flourish at Stanford!
Hi everyone! My name is Monica and I’m a sophomore majoring in Psychology, with minors in Human Biology and Italian. I’m originally from Dallas, Texas, and my family is from El Salvador, so growing up I was exposed to very diverse communities which have fueled my interests in global health, mental health, and education and increasing their accessibility to low-income Latine communities. On campus, I volunteer at Cardinal Free Clinics and work at the Women’s Community Center, and I am also involved in WYSE. Outside of school I love to bake, cook vegetarian dishes, and watch way too many shows.
Daryn Rockett is a current sophomore from Long Beach, CA majoring in African and African American Studies, with a prospective double major in Sociology. She is an active member of the Black Student Union and Stanford Splash, serves as a BROC Coordinator through the Black House, and is currently finishing up her term as a senator on the ASSU Undergraduate Senate. Daryn was a co-lead for Frosh 101 last Fall, and is excited to continue working within the program. She enjoys listening to music, taking walks on campus, reading, and watching her favorite shows on Netflix or Hulu. Feel free to talk to me about: LA musicians (Kendrick Lamar, SiR, The Internet, Schoolboy Q, YG, Vince Staples--technically from Long Beach--and Tyler the Creator are some examples), WandaVision (and all things Disney+) Coraline, Crocs, JUST Water, and how to be involved on campus!
Hi! My name is Megan (she/her) and I am a sophomore from New York City majoring in Human Biology. I am heavily involved in Students for a Sustainable Stanford and am interested in the intersection between biotechnology, equity, and sustainability. In my free time, I like working on lots of different sewing projects and you can find me on campus either biking, penny boarding, or roller skating!
Hi y’all!! My name is Paola and my pronouns are she/her. I am a FLI, Latinx sophomore who still hasn’t declared a major lol, but I am considering English or Psychology (or both ??). I have the hobbies of an old grandmother, which include crocheting, baking, and playing the electric guitar (or trying to). So excited to meet you all :)
My name is Jenna Ruzekowicz, a Computer Science major from Upstate New York. I was a SLE student my frosh year, and write for various sections of the Stanford Daily. In my free time I love to watch soccer and go for runs. I am so excited to be a TA for FROSH101, and continue to make the home to college transition as seamless and joyous as possible!
Hi! My name is Francis. I'm a sophomore, and I'm still figuring out what I want to major in. I love trying new things and hearing about others who try new things. I swear I've seen most things on Netflix, but if you have any recommendations just shoot me an email. I'm passionate about fitness, art, and anything that has to do with exploration, and if you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to reach out! I'm so serious when I say I'm happy to chat about anything in the world :)
My name is Zach Teplin, and I am a current sophomore majoring in Biomechanical Engineering and minoring in Chemistry. Outside of classes, I have found my home at Stanford in communities such as the Club Swim Team, 6th Man Club, Stanford Undergrads in Mechanical Engineering, and more, truly enjoying the wide array of opportunities and people at this school. Over my past two quarters, one of the highlights of every week has been the opportunity to work with Frosh and help guide them in their transition to college as I found that I learned just as much from Frosh as I hope they did in sections with me. In my free time, I enjoy reading, Sudoku puzzles, and working out, always looking for a pool to swim in during these disrupting times. I am also a huge Marvel fan and have recently taught a creative writing/Marvel movies workshop to 3rd and 4th graders, easily one of the coolest things I have done (who wouldn't want to watch movie clips during every class??).
I'm a Ghanaian sophomore majoring in Human Biology with an interest in Health policy and Economics. In my free time, I love watching and playing soccer, and I try to play the piano by ear. When I took Frosh 101 in Junipero Hall in Wilbur, it was the perfect opportunity I needed to reflect on my Stanford experience. I have come to realize that finding a sense of belonging in the first quarter, and even beyond, can be tough. That said, when one convinces themselves that they belong here at Stanford, it sets them up to take on the rigors with a new reinforced drive to overcome. Co-leading Frosh 101 for the past two quarters has made me aware of how central the co-lead is to a frosh's experience. So, I'm super-excited to work with you all to make the frosh experience fun and impactful.
Hi! My name is Kellen, and I'm from Phoenix, AZ. I'm a sophomore majoring in Human Biology with a minor in Computer Science. In the future, I hope to become either a neurologist, or a social media influencer—whichever one comes first. Outside of class, I enjoy playing guitar, making short films, and producing content for creative projects like Love Is Blind Stanford.
My name is Tina, and I’m a rising senior at Stanford. Before starting college, I worked as a medic in the Army for four years after high school. I transferred to Stanford in Fall 2019 from College of San Mateo, where I first discovered the joy of studying Economics. I’m a fool for shrimp & grits, sitcoms and sleeping during car rides. (Transfer 101 TA)
Frosh / Transfer 101 Head TAs (2021):

My favorite thing to do in my free time is listen to music, and I love making/talking about art as well! This is my third year with the Frosh101 program, so feel free to hit me up with any questions or thoughts you might have :)
